thoughts about this site

first and foremost i am very enthusiastic about the various possibilities that having a site can bring. ofcourse just posting about various things already adds tremendously to the beauty of my blog seeing as my posts are a celebration of joy. however, personalizing the various possible pages can really add to the aesthetic value of the site.

types of pages that i am thinking about now

there could be something done with the homepage to enhance the way content is showcased, although i am also fond of how it looks now. at some point however the amount of posts will make the home page maybe cluttered in a way, although maybe not. in any case, i would like to be able to showcase my favorite blog posts so i could think of something for that.

a different page that seems very crucial but is often overlooked is the 404 page. when you try to go to a site and just get a very basic 404 screen, it really takes you out of the experience. especially if you really wanted to visit specifically that page. that’s why i think making the 404 page look coherent with the rest of the blog is very important, alongside coherent it should also encourage you to further explore other pages; i am very curious as to how far you can ‘customize’ the 404 page. how smart you could make it so to speak.

friendly interface and something else

i had thought of an example pertaining to how a 404 page could function to redirect to posts with similar topics, however i am not quite sure if a 404 page would be applicable in such a scenario. perhaps if the post has been deprecated in some sense, although if the post has been made private it would probably show a different page. but i don’t know: if you know let me hear from you!

an idea i had about the ‘structure’ of posts would rely on the category function in wordpress. in my last post i ended of the post by stating that i would write further about the topics discussed, so in that sense the following posts about those topics would ‘branch’ out from that ‘root’ post. i would like to signal this hierarchy visually in some way, perhaps by color coding based upon being in the same category, or containing a different visual signifier like an image. or both!

i’ve always wanted to make a website and i have so many ideas that i am very excited to explore.

for now however, i say adieu

excited for smoothies and silky hair

starting from the beginning

i was browsing youtube and i got a fashion runway video, specifically the versace spring summer collection of 1995. remarkably many supermodels appeared and i was generally in awe at how beautiful the outfits are. very classy and luxurious.

moreso however was their beautiful shiny hair! just beyond gorgeous hair. the top comment seemed to agree with me on this matter. it made me wonder if there were any tutorials on how to achieve this level of shine. however i didn’t search very far for this and opted instead to search “how to get shiny hair”.

this led me to smoothies

when i searched up “how to get shiny hair”, after seeing a recommendation for clarifying shampoo (which i should definitely consider!) a reddit thread caught my eye and when i scanned through the answers it seemed that sleeping with a silk bonnet was a considerable option, i saw a few product options and then i read this comment.

[…] I went through a probably-not-enough-nutrition phase and it was absolutely way less shiny. I started making spinach and kale smoothies and it improved it drastically.

this struck a cord with me, as of yesterday i had an epiphany concerning nutrition; namely that if i didn’t eat a substantial meal through out the day i usually noticed a remarkable improvement in concentration. ofcourse this is moreso a false correlation; it made me realise i could really do with a keto diet. carbohydrates (the easiest option) always made me drowsy and would give me brain fog, so avoiding these (by avoiding eating entirely) also improved these fluctuations in energy levels.

a keto diet would require some restructuring of my eating habits and smoothies as an option caught my attention for the following reasons:

  • i have tried and failed to implement a more diverse range of vitamin rich foods (fruits and leafy greens) as i am someone who doesn’t really have a problem eating the same foods day after day
  • we have just recently gotten a (mini) dishwasher in our appartement so owning a blender would not be such a pain (when washing dishes)
    • my boyfriend is particularly excited to have a dishwasher in our house, one might say smitten. he is constantly searching for his next fix (the following load of dishes)
  • i generally enjoy drinking far more than eating, beverages get me quite excited and i am fond of cocktails (which seem alike to smoothies)

save to say that i am excited by the prospects of smoothies and silky hair, seperately and in intertwined in my search. i expect to write seperate posts about the matters when i engage more in them.

for now, ciao!

positif re: purpose

this is the first post of the repurposed positif blog.

what purpose?

the purpose of the positif blog is to catalog and keep track of things that i keep myself busy with that make me happy. i have come to a point in life where i want to center joy and creation first and foremost in my life.

i spend a lot of time on my laptop and see many things that i would like to take note of, but do not quite fit anywhere in a notebook or note taking app. as opposed to these former options, i think that posting to a blog would motivate me more to complete research and write about it in my own style rather than copying something someone else wrote, which would make what i discover and try off- and online more significant and uniquely applicable to me.

motif of positif

the motif of the positif blog is a lotus. the lotus symbolizes perseverance through adversity, seeing as it grows in the mud. i want to see the lotus in the murky waters and there is so much to see. thats why i seek to bloom.
